I think this might be the mural I was thinking of.

This one is 1:1 scale by American Artist Rufus Porter from Maine.

Stepping up my game...

So my daughter of 25 years patiently listens to me talk about the peeps in blogland. She has started giving me advice about my arrangements. HA! She is being drawn in!

I showed her some of my friend Oese's rooms and her response was, "They look SO real! Mom you really need to step up your game!
So focusing for a month on the Colonial House has been good for it and me.
I fixed broken furniture, cleaned it and became interested in that period of history again. I found great blogs on women like: http://www.lkwdpl.org/wihohio/figures.htm and http://womenofhistory.blogspot.com/.
Continuing the story next week: Thaddeus returns from New York where they are discussing the new plan to move the Capitol from New York to the Potomac and build a new house for the President. Ben Franklin has just died and the French Revolution is in full swing, but everyone knows the French will never hurt their King or Queen. The women in Boston are dying to hear about the elegant fashions of New York.

Give away... One chair left....

6PM UPDATE: That leaves the olive green chair UNTAKEN and I will put all the rest of the names of people who want it together and draw a winner on MARCH 17TH.

Update: the Blue chair has been claimed. Congrats Anthouls, who is from Greece.
One down 2 to go. I will wait 5 days for the last one and do a drawing if there are many wants.
Update. The brown Eames style chair goes to Shale from Canada. One left. In my opinion the most useful as it is the biggest... xoxo C

9am
Here are 3 chairs I don't use. They are Reac which I have posted about. So rather than stepping on them, I would like to give them away. And I mean that, you should see my doll area! Would you like one? The guidelines are, say which you want, and I just can't have sent you something already.

I will wait 5 days from today for the last one (turns out it's the olive green one) and pick a winner by drawing from the names. Good luck! Cheers CM

I found this mind blowing!

the comments on this post by Bradbury are good too.

OK I'm on a mural tangent. It happens...

Once I also saw an English dollhouse with a beautiful tree mural painted in it.Have you seen it? Does anyone know it? I thought it was on Flickr but can't find it. C

Puppenstube update: "Hollllllywood..."

Just a little diversion away from the Colonial House.
I think this little Hollywood swing is by Lundby. It will be my first Lundby piece.
I don't know it's age but I thought it would look cute on the terrace.
The spot on the wall above the green potted plant is from a missing wall light. I don't know what to put there.
Any ideas?
I have to tell you how much I love the thumbnail pictures of people who follow our blogs. It makes me so happy to see the faces when I turn on my blog. I love all the doll faces, cartoons, flowers, black and white photos and all the creative ways people express who they are. It's like the best bouquet of flowers and makes me instantly happy. Thanks, C
Update: Love how everyone agrees about the little pictures, in fact I noticed this when my friend Norma was edged off the page and I missed her face when she disappeared. I saw a blog where all the faces were displayed but I don't know how to do that YET. Seeing everyone would be like being at a party. (except those weird shadow ones of my best friends who joined when I started and don't have pics.Yes that is you Bev and Donna. They look rather sinister, like relocated mafia people!)

Victory for Modern Aficionados

Well another milestone for Modern Dollhouse collectors!
I received my latest catalog from HOBBY BUILDERS SUPPLY and guess what they have! A Modern Chair collection.
This catalog is like the Sears catalog of dollhouse accessories. Mainstream. Now they are featuring MODERN
DESIGN. (ok some are midcentury) Thanks to you Mini Modern! Your bringing modern miniantures to the fore has paid off. I'm not sure how the prices compare with international fees.
