Christian Hacker Dollhouse Livingroom
Looking down into the first floor salon. This doll with the bisque straw hat is one of my favorites. The furniture is German "made for the French market" as they say. It has wonderful eyelash fringe.
There is an antique German clock on the mantle and you can barely see the glass chandelier at the top of the picture.
This is a view without dolls so you can see the whole room.
The room to the left is a hallway with stairs. Sometimes I remove them and make it a dining room.
This black haired doll is one of my favorites. She has a beautiful smile. Am I always saying "this doll is one of my favorites???"
Other views of the salon when I located it on the opposite side of the floor before I understood that was the kitchen.
The fireplace in this picture is contemporary but I liked how large it was. The drinks tray is Schneegas. (currently relocated to the Tynietoy Townhouse). Playing favorites!
Playing around with lighting. Gerlach tantalus with glasses. Early American Oak furniture.
Happy Thanksgiving. The cook is busy. We are hoping for guests! CM

Christian Hacker dollhouse second floor salon
Second floor of the dollhouse. Containing Boulle furniture.
Two antique dolls. Notice the pink color of the material of the doll (right) where a sash has been lost. This shows the original color of the doll's dress compared to the faded color of the rest of it. I especially love dolls with porcelain bonnets.
German gold tea set. Notice burl like wood bed, and inticate beading on the dress of the Kestner Grandmother doll.
This photo is looking into the library next door.
Antique Boulle chest from the Musee Poupee in Paris.
Antique Boulle chair and desk. Little antique mirror.
Boulle antique desk and chair
Antique soft metal German fireplace.
Step into the salon, I'll have the maid light the fire, would you like a cup of tea? CM

Christian Hacker doll house Library
Lets start in the Library
Globe is an old pencil sharpener, "tobacco" rug. White rug is a
vintage plastic doilie.
Antique Gottschalk desk as a bar tray, I like to take pictures of my other dollhouse dolls for Ancestor portraits for the walls of my dollhouses. Sometimes you can see a family portrait handed down in the MH1.
Plus an antique German landscape.
I like to add dolls after photographing the room or sometimes you do not see the furniture.
Chauffeur Doll from ebay, he needs gloves, Grandfather doll, Kestner from Ruby Lane, actually not sure where Father doll came from. His clothing looks glued so that would make him more recent.
An interloper...
A little hole in the wallpaper. I wish this old house could tell me about it's journey from Germany to San Francisco!
"Really," Father says, "I don't mind living in Tynietoy and Christian Hackers' at all. Cheers!" CM

Christian Hacker Dollhouse
This is an antique Christian Hacker from an old auction catalog. I love the chimneys!
And this is mine I found in San Francisco. Swanjte Kohler told me the balcony was added so I removed it. It has been tarted up but you can see the shapes where the original design was. I sanded it and think at some point it was a pink and then pickled.
It has the original stove unit and a clean shape on the floor, a footprint where the typical Christian Hacker cupboard once was.

Picture of the inauthentic balcony.
The doors and windows are covered in a chalky white paint.
This is a picture of a Christian Hacker from Ann Mehann's web site. http://www.meehanantiqueminiatures.com/ from her past collection.
This is a picture of the classic Christian Hacker cupboard holding beautiful treen dishes. Look at the typical marbled wall paper.
A final Christian Hacker dollhousefrom Ann Mehann's collection. Look at all the woodwork!
You can find it here: http://www.meehanantiqueminiatures.com
This is Susan Hale's Christian Hacker Kitchen with the marbled wallpaper and her wonderful collection of Treen ware! I had the kitchen and dining room reversed . I now have the kitchen on the other side.

Today's News is Tynietoy tops the charts
This antique garden made by Tynietoy sold today at Skinner's Auctions for $2,100 before premiums and other charges. It isn't clear to me if the gardens came made for any house or the various styles of houses had their own such as a Nantucket cottage had one style and the Mansion another. We need a definitive book on this don't we!
And why do some of the mansion have this lovely mural and some not? Did they all come with it and some were painted over (horrors!) Would love to know.
Here is the same mural from a Noel Barret auction with description from June 19 2004.
made in Providence, Rhode Island. The largest of the Tynietoy series of houses. The mansion facade is distinguished by a gambrel roof on the main house as well as the kitchen wing. The front door is decorated by a formal painted double arch supported by columns, panels and a central keystone. The entrance is further ornamented by stenciled fan and side lights. Three dimensional applied shutters, window trim and mullion stenciled Eisenglass windows all add to the feeling of scale. The painted ivory facade reflects the flattened planes of a 20th century interpretation of colonial architecture. The sense of fine scale and heightened realism extends into the details of the interior rooms. The mansion model can be identified by the pastoral mural that spans the walls of the music room. The foregroung depicts exotic trees and flora while in the backround, a clipper ship heads out to sea against a panarama of Oriental mountain peaks. Architectural details are generously allotted to the mansion's interiors. Finely cut cornice and kick board moldings and three dimensional broken arch door pediments add to the 20th century atmosphere. Fireplaces with faux painted overmantle panels in blue and marbleized hearths create realism, as does the stairwell rising to the third floor and returning on itself between each floor, with individually cut stair spindles. The enchanting second floor nursery and adjoining bathroom, nestled in the eaves of the gambrel roof are unique to the mansion model as is the narrow pantry below. A typical 20th century adaption are the French doors on either side of the music room chimney face. The palacetial interior encompasses 13 rooms. The house is made is made of thin painted and stained plywood, c.1920's. Sold with Gottschalk cardboard garden furniture, Tynietoy garden bench, pair of tynietoy boxed brush trees, pair of Gottschalk latticed planters, assorted potted trees and brass fireplace equipment including fenders and andirons. Please note room furishings are sold separately.
32.5" t. x 58" w.
excellent all original condition.

As I am told this house pictured above is not the
one sold today though they have identical murals.
This seems odd to me as all the painted furniture
and screens were unique. Was there a special mural
painter who duplicated the same design. Does
anyone know? Would love to know more about this
fabulous line of dollhouses! CM
Update: I queried Tynietoy specialist Susan
Grimshaw from Tynietoy.org and she told me the
Mansion murals were copied from an historic house
in Haverhill, MA. So they were hand painted but
from the same pattern. Thank you Susan Grimshaw!

Want a Christian Hacker of your own?
The ridges down the sides are called Quoins and often are an attribute of Christian Hackers.
Look at the old stove and beautiful wallpaper.

Erzgebirge, I have been looking for one of these for a long time...
I love Erzgebirge pieces used as toys in a dollhouse. These hand made pieces from the Erzgebirge region of the Ore Mountains in Germany are so charming.
You can learn more about the Ore Mountains and the manufacturing of them here :.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ore_Mountains
The little wooden village pieces are often seen as "doll houses in dollhouses".
The little trucks and wagons are seen as toys in dollhouses too.
This truck is on ebay today (8/29/2012) #120854474773 ending in 2 days.
buy it now $49.95.
The piano is a smaller scale Schoenhut so I use it as a toy. The steamer on the lid of the piano is metal and looks like a Crackerjack prize. The vintage metal horses on the floor were found in an antique shop in Pennsylvania. The carriage was purchased separately.
I love the little red house from an Erzgebirge village set.
Here are some on ebay today item #251141935424 ending 2 days 6 hrs from right now. $19.99 at this time.
I especially like how my toy is scribbled on with pencil. There are drawings on the inside and I can see the name "Tildee Clayton"
written on the back, then "MINE" in capital letters.
Baby Downton loves it too. The maid keeps everything in order.
Hmmm, toy with toys. CM
