A Friend of mine recently pointed out it is pronounced Pup (like puppy) en stuben. Just to be clear. This image from the Virtuelle Puppenhaus Museum http://www.puppenhausmuseum.de/ symbolizes the newness and excitement of the new design for the home. My friend Yuki says she can spend hours looking at this collection of German mini house design from post war Germany.
Here is the kitchen flooring from my house.
Livingroom flooring.

I am totally amazed with these houses of yours!
You live in Wonderland!
I like it!
Bye Faby
Puppenhause is pronounced pup en stuben? Am I understanding that right? Sorry for being so dense. :(
I love all of the bright colors in these miniatures, especially the flooring in the top pic.
the pronouncation of puppenhaus you discribe on your blog is not right. Pup is pronounced as Pooh pen- haus au like in couch.
This house and it's furniture is way cool! I love the colours and the textures.
Maybe in 100 years 'future Carol and Susan' will visit a collection of mid-century modern dollhouses and be totally swept off their feet.
I have to admit it does have as much appeal as the antique dollhouses, but in a totally 'think-outside-the-antique-craftsman-box' way.

Hi Faby! Be sure to visit the Virtual Museum listed above, you'll love it! C
Hi Dale, well Helene, Nicola, Petra and Rebecca AND Astrid have all been helping me with my German,I have been saying "Poop N stuben" which I admit is a big hit with my little assistant. But Megan told me it is Pup n stube. And I believe her! C
Hey Shale... does this mean Daphne and Colette head to Germany next???
Hi Klara, Thanks.
OK Current "Klarafication"!
Pooh (like winnie the pooh?) pen
haus. ?? C
Hey Kikka another cute little frog on your blog!
Well 14 houses down 4 to go. CM
Wow - like it!! The armchairs are so cool!
And yes it must sound like "poopenhouse" - But no long pooh a short one ;D like the p in the word pop. And haus sounds excactly like house - means the same sounds the same :) Puppenstube: "poopenstoobe" like in stool. And stube is an old word for livingroom, in eastern Germany a lot people still use it.

Hi Nicola,
Do you mean POP N Haus? Got the Haus and stube.
Just need clarifying on that first
syllable. :) C
The first syllable is short like "look" or "good".
Poo-pen-stoo-be . The last "e" is very short like the e in "egg" or "men".
Cheers, Lilli
Um, no - not pop (then it´s dutch ;D) Pooh like Pooh the bear is right, but the double "p" in the word "Puppen" is spoken short, like in the word pop.

My daughter just got back from Paris and I have been looking at her pictures with much envy. I think Daphne and Colette need to go to Paris next!! They would love it.
(Carol and Susan might enjoy it too.)
