Hi Dale! Yes rather rococco. CM

It's like the Hollywood Regency that is so popular right now. :)

I REMEMBER those red chairs! I had two of them! And the dining room cabinet... and the green curved sofa!! I remember Wishing they were really big enough for my dollhouse.... but they looked a little ridiculous in it... and even as a six year old I could tell they were the wrong scale! But they were SOOOOOO fancy!

I am always looking for the correct term of this style, found in all dollshouses of the 60s, "Hollywood Regency style" is perfect! Am I the only one who thinks it kitschy?

I love Petite Princess. I never saw it when I was a child, but I know I would have loved it and yearned for all the pieces. I really like the realistic 1960's styles. It reminds me of the furniture in the 1960's TV shows.

Hi DPS! Yes they are not quite old enough to be amusing. They are definately rococco. So Kitch is right! Spare me swag lamps! CM

Shale too right! Think "I dream if Jeannie" 1960's.

I don't remember a great deal about our childhood dolls house, but I do remember that we had a Petite Princess fireplace and table the one you show here) - maybe a grandfather clock too? I don't remember if we chose it ourelves from the toy shop in town, or whether a parent or grandparent gave it to us ... and we didn't keep it, I think when we sold the dolls house, it went too. I must admit I haven't felt nostalgic enough about it to buy more! Whereas the Erna Meyer dolls we had I absolutely love ...

I am looking at your vintage PP collection in admiration . Very well made!

What is the material for the range of furniture in your latest post? They look kind of plasticky in the pictures

My Realitty said...

Hi Sans! It is VERY plastic! Material is used too, felt, brocade, voile with many trims. I think though,er...tacky the detail is what makes it special. C

Hi Rebecca! Some pieces are great. The firplace is sturdy so lots of them are around. I never saw this when I was litle. No one I knew had them. I must have been too old.
