Summertime and the living is easy

You could say... it's blissful. The East Coast
The Beach House
Most Bliss dollhouses were made around the turn of the century of lithographed paper.

But it really annoys me when people walk into my house and say "Oh, I really like your bird house!" and point to this Bliss Veranda house!

Bird house! What do they say when you tell them how much they sell for?

It's beautiful, I love those old houses :) And it would be a great idea to make a birdhouse to look like that ;)

No 'house' work yet, still working on gift and swaps - and today I started making things for my overdue giveaway. I still have 3 weeks break left so should get time before it's nose to the grindstone again until end of October.

Hehehe. Are these old houses quite filmsy, Carol? I have often wondered about them.

Bea, I'll show the back next, it is 2 floors. Has the original wallpaper but it is very dark and dirty. C

Rebecca! I bought it because it was a deal, I think it has been overpainted, had worming, and is missing so many parts.
I say "Thank you" if I don't like the person and don't want to launch into the entire history of dollhouses.
The other funny response I get is when the MH1 by Wes Christensen is out someone said "Oh, I SEE Someone is an architetch" and I wannt to say, yeah someone is BUT NOT ME IT"S A DOLLHOUSE! See what kind of person I really am, Rebecca... C

Hi Merry, just love Mr. Skeleton. There is an artist who makes copies. Cynthia Howe, I'm not sure if she is still doing it, but I've been meaning to color xerox dow a picture of it to put in the playroom of one of my other dollhouses but just haven't hit that old to do list recently. C

Sans, they are the kind of thing that look like it is disintegrating right before your very eyes.
You can't really play with it. The "J BLiss" sign is about to peel off so I have to put laquer over it or something. I should just get a lucite cube made for it.
The wood structure is strong, nailed but old. Some of the paper strong, like the windows, but the roof is peeling. A Quandry, C

Hey that gives me an idea. Why not buy a bird house and make it into a doll house. Someday I will have time to shop. Hopefully soon... I also have some better ideas for my doll house room. Friend suggested floor to ceiling with the doll houses. Happy Summer!

Amy Happy 4th! I once made a fly fishing themed burd house for a fund raiser I did and people were so impressed with the little tackle basket and fishing rod and rocker I positioned on the porch...they apparently had no idea what was available in miniature! I just smiled... C
